The wine party reception is a "walk around" wine tasting with six to twelve wine stations offering experiences such as blind tastings, vertical or horizontal tasting (same wine from different vintages/different wines from same vintage) white and red wine olfactory tastings, cheese and wine paring, etc.  Wine receptions are often booked for hospitality suite programs at trade shows, sales incentive programs, company parties and most often, as convention receptions because they provide the networking which members want but also give participants something else interesting to do and talk about (thus providing a way of opening up conversation for those members who are attending the convention alone.)
